At the time of writing there is no direct integration between SamCart and Teachable.

This means that if someone purchases your course in SamCart, you need to get them enrolled in the right Teachable course.

In this post I’m going to outline 3 options for this.

This will totally work for other payment gateway/checkout + course delivery platforms too e.g. ThriveCart and Podia.

1. Enroll them in the Teachable course manually

Pros:

  • Doesn’t require any additional tools or higher tier pricing plans.
  • Is an option for getting started quickly and easily.

Cons:

  • It’s a manual process and it’s not sustainable long term as you (hopefully!) get more and more students.

How to do it:

If they aren’t already a student in your Teachable school:

If they are already a student in your Teachable school:

Under ‘Users’, search for the customer and click into their profile:

2. Use your email provider with Zapier as an intermediary between SamCart and Teachable

Requires: Email provider that allows for tagging where the tags can be selected in the SamCart product (e.g. ConvertKit or ActiveCampaign), and Teachable Professional plan.

Pros:

  • It’s automated and doesn’t require you to do anything manually each time someone purchases in SamCart.
  • You only need to create one Zap per Teachable course (i.e. no need to update every time you create a new SamCart product for the same course).
  • Makes it super easy to manually give access to the course outside of them having to buy through SamCart e.g. to a 1:1 client or as a bonus during a launch.
  • You may be able to do it with a free Zapier plan (as long as you have under 100 purchases a month).

Cons:

  • You do need a Teachable Professional plan, but you are going to need that to integrate SamCart and Teachable automatically however you do it.

How to do it:

Step 1: Create a tag in your email service provider e.g. ‘Access: Course X’

Step 2: Set up a Zap in Zapier so that when the ‘Access’ tag is added, they’re enrolled in the corresponding Teachable course.

Step 3: Add the tag you created in Step 1 to any SamCart products that need to be enrolled in that Teachable course.
Note: This will be in addition to any other tags you have for your SamCart/Email Service Provider integration.

3. Use just Zapier as the intermediary between SamCart and Teachable

Requires: Teachable Professional plan and a paid Zapier plan.

Pros:

  • It’s automated and doesn’t require you to do anything manually each time someone purchases in SamCart.
  • You don’t need an email service provider that allows for tagging or integrates directly with SamCart.

Cons:

  • You do need a Teachable Professional plan, but you are going to need that to integrate SamCart and Teachable automatically however you do it.
  • You do also definitely need a paid Zapier plan as you need to use the filter feature for the zap.
  • You need to remember to edit the Zap every time you create a new SamCart product for the same course (e.g. different pricing, during a launch, etc).
  • It’s not very straightforward to manually add a student to the course outside of them purchasing in SamCart.
